Hello everyone,

We are preparing the **workshop proposal for CoDecFin 2027** (Coordination of Decentralized Finance) for submission to **Financial Cryptography and Data Security 2027 (FC’27)**.

CoDecFin is the FC-associated workshop on technology and operational issues of permissionless blockchain and decentralized finance. BGIN was initiated after early CoDeFi / CoDecFin workshops, and CoDecFin discussions continue to inform BGIN documents and Working Group agendas.

**We would like BGIN community input before we finalize and submit the proposal.**

## What we need from you

Please reply in this thread **by Friday, 21 August 2026** (or contact us privately). Any subset of the items below is useful.

### 1. Topics / special focus areas for 2027

CoDecFin keeps a broad CFP, and each year we also emphasize areas tied to current multi-stakeholder needs.

**Topics highlighted in the CoDecFin 2026 proposal / CFP (starting point):**

- Identity, privacy, and key management
- Centralized custody and decentralized custody
- Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) migration
- Cybersecurity and information sharing
- Governance of the security supply chain
- Governance sustainability (e.g. vs censorship resistance)
- Application of PETs (ZKP and MPC) to blockchain
- Privacy-enhanced authentication
- Forensics and on-chain analysis
- Illicit activities
- Maturity definitions and assessment criteria
- Standardization and R&D direction of digital assets, stablecoins, and CBDCs
- Preventing use of crypto-assets in ransomware attacks
- Scaling cryptocurrency, regulatory challenges, and mainstream adoption
- Common understandings of “regulatory goals”
- FATF: AML and privacy
- Security of exchanges and DeFi protocols
- Regulatory challenges of DeFi protocols
- Risk and resilience in cryptocurrency financial systems
- Harmonization of automated systems, human intervention, and regulation
- NFTs and soulbound tokens
- Standards (technical and regulatory)
- Regulation of exchanges and consumer protection
- Interoperability among existing financial infrastructure, permissionless ledgers, and CBDCs
- Governance of protocols, implementations, DEXs & DAOs
- Wallet governance
- Energy consumption and environmental impact of consensus algorithms

**Please tell us:**

1. Which topics should **continue** , **be reframed/merged** , or **be dropped** for 2027?
2. What **new topics** should we add? Examples for discussion (not decisions):
  - Agentic AI for security operations / information sharing
  - Stablecoin and tokenized-deposit operational guidance
  - L2 / bridge resilience and cross-chain risk
  - Bitcoin and multi-chain PQC migration (ecosystem-neutral framing)
  - Competition / evaluation / testbed themes linked to standards work

3. Should we keep a short **“special areas of this year”** list on the public website (as in CoDecFin 2026), separate from the full topic list?

### 2. Linkage to BGIN Working Groups

We want the draft CFP to reflect issues WGs are actively working on.

- Which **current or planned WG deliverables** should appear explicitly in the proposal / draft CFP?
- Which open questions from **Block 14** (or upcoming Blocks / GDC) need an academic track at CoDecFin 2027?

### 3. Chairs, Program Committee, and helpers

Please nominate (including self-nominations), with affiliation if possible:

- **Program Co-chair** candidates
_(2026 proposal listed Jarek Nabrzyski + TBA; General Chair: Shin’ichiro Matsuo)_
- **Program Committee** candidates (academia, industry, operators, policy / standards)
- Volunteers for **outreach** , reviewing, and session design

### 4. Format

Views welcome on:

- Full-day vs half-day
- Balance of **refereed papers** vs **invited talks / roundtables**
- Continuing the **joint session with WTSC** (as in 2022–2026), if both workshops are accepted
- How strongly to surface PQC competition / standards / testbed themes for February 2027

## Working framing (not final)

**Title:** The 8th Workshop on Coordination of Decentralized Finance (CoDecFin) 2027 — Regulators meet Industry meet Devs meet Researchers

**Purpose (working text):** CoDecFin identifies and discusses technology and operational issues of permissionless blockchain and decentralized finance, bringing researchers, builders, operators, regulators, and other stakeholders into a shared academic and practice-oriented venue. Outcomes are expected to contribute to multi-stakeholder coordination, including work in BGIN.

**Note:** This workshop does **not** endorse any specific decentralized finance projects or products. Ecosystem neutrality (including Bitcoin and non-EVM communities) remains a design goal.

## Timeline

| When | What |
| --- | --- |
| **Now – 21 Aug 2026** | Collect input on this thread |
| **Late Aug 2026** | Post a consolidated draft proposal outline on Discourse for a second pass |
| **Before 1 Sep 2026** | Submit the workshop proposal to FC’27 |
| **After acceptance** | Open CoDecFin 2027 website and Call for Papers |

## How to reply

A short reply along these lines is ideal:

1. Topics: keep / change / add
2. BGIN WG linkages
3. Chair / PC nominations
4. Format preferences
5. Any constraints (calendar, ecosystem balance, publication expectations, etc.)

If you prefer not to post publicly, contact **Shin’ichiro Matsuo** (`matsuo@bg2x.org`).

Thank you — concrete suggestions will materially improve the proposal we submit to FC’27.
