CoDecFin 2027 — Call for topics and Program Committee nominations

Hello everyone,

We are finalizing the workshop proposal for CoDecFin 2027 (the 8th Workshop on Coordination of Decentralized Finance) for submission to Financial Cryptography and Data Security 2027 (FC’27).

CoDecFin is the FC-associated workshop on technology and operational issues of permissionless blockchain and decentralized finance. BGIN was initiated after early CoDeFi / CoDecFin workshops, and CoDecFin discussions continue to inform BGIN documents and Working Group agendas.

We are seeking BGIN community input on (1) special focus areas for 2027 and (2) Program Co-chair and Program Committee nominations before we submit the proposal to FC.

Attached: draft workshop proposal (PDF) — following the CoDecFin 2026 format (fc26.ifca.ai/codecfin), updated for 2027.

What we need from you

Please reply in this thread by Friday, 29 August 2026 (or contact us privately). Any subset of the items below is useful.

1. Special focus areas for 2027

CoDecFin keeps a broad CFP each year, plus a shorter “Special area of this year” list on the public website (as in CoDecFin 2026).

Draft list in the attached proposal (2026 items in italics where the wording changed; bold = new for 2027):

CoDecFin 2026 CoDecFin 2027 (draft)
Post Quantum Cryptography Migration Post-Quantum Cryptography Migration, Evaluation, and Crypto Agility

Governance of Security Supply Chain Governance of Security Supply Chain

Maturity definitions and assessment criteria Maturity definitions and assessment criteria
Governance of protocols, implementations, DEXs & DAOs Governance of protocols, implementations, DEXs & DAOs
Wallet governance Wallet governance
Stablecoins, Tokenized Deposits, and DeFi Operational Guidance

Please tell us:

  1. Which areas should continue, be reframed/merged, or be dropped?
  2. What new topics should we add or emphasize? (e.g. agentic AI for security operations, Caribbean / Global South perspectives for FC’27 in Barbados, NEDO/METI prize-program evaluation themes — academic framing only; not algorithm endorsement)
  3. Any wording changes to keep the list aligned with BGIN Working Group deliverables?

2. Program Co-chairs and Program Committee

Program Co-chairs are vacant in the current draft. We welcome nominations (including self-nominations) for one or two Program Co-chairs, with affiliation and brief relevant experience.

Program Committee: the attached draft lists the CoDecFin 2026 PC as a starting point, with a note that membership for 2027 is subject to confirmation. We welcome:

  • Confirmations from 2026 PC members who wish to continue
  • New nominations (including self-nominations) from academia, industry, operators, and policy / standards communities

Please include name, affiliation, and areas of expertise. Brief notes on availability or conflicts of interest are helpful but optional.

Current draft PC (from CoDecFin 2026):
James Angel, Julien Bringer, Eric Burger, Chen Feng, Victor Garcia, Joaquin Garcia-Alfaro, Carole House, Mario Larangeira, Kanta Matsuura, Michele Benedetto Neitz, Takaya Sugino, Owen Vaughan, Robert Wardrop — more members to be announced.

Volunteers for outreach, review coordination, and session design are also welcome.

3. Linkage to BGIN Working Groups

  • Which current or planned WG deliverables should be reflected in the special-focus list or CFP?
  • Which open questions from Block 14–15, GDC, or the NEDO specification process need an academic track at CoDecFin 2027?

Working principles (unchanged)

  • CoDecFin does not endorse any specific DeFi project or product.
  • Ecosystem neutrality (Bitcoin, non-EVM, and other communities) remains a design goal.
