Announcement: ISO Category A Liaison Relationship with BGIN Approved

Dear BGIN Members,

We are pleased to announce that today we received confirmation from ISO regarding the approval of a Category A liaison relationshipbetween ISO TC307 and BGIN. This represents a significant milestone for BGIN and the blockchain community as a whole.

This liaison relationship allows BGIN to contribute its standards to ISO as official ISO standards through. While BGIN’s standards are recognized as global standards, being incorporated into ISO international standards will make it easier for government agencies to formally reference them. This is a vital step in bridging the gap between blockchain engineers, industry stakeholders, and government entities, fostering alignment and collaboration across these sectors. Furthermore, this establishes a robust channel for influencing national policy frameworks.

One practical example of this collaboration is the Cybersecurity Working Group, which BGIN is currently forming. This group aims to develop a cybersecurity standard, which is likely to serve as the first example of a BGIN standard being submitted to ISO for formalization.

We are also looking forward to further discussions on the roadmap toward ISO standardization during the upcoming BGIN Block 12 meeting, scheduled for March 2nd and 3rd, as well as the Working Group meetings preceding the event.

BGIN remains committed to expanding official channels like this, enhancing the shared understanding among all stakeholders, and documenting these understandings as standards. By doing so, we aim to promote the healthy development of blockchain technology and foster its broader societal acceptance.

Thank you for your continued support and participation in BGIN’s initiatives. We look forward to seeing many of you at Block 12 and the Working Group discussions.

Warm regards,

Shin’ichiro Matsuo, BGIN co-chair
