Update:
Glad to say that the BGIN Ops-WG had it’s inaugural meeting. The meeting had (7) attendees, due to some miscommunication Co-Chairs @Amanda_Wick & @ts1433 were not able to attend.
However, the WG was successful in holding productive conversation, primarily around the ‘suggestion box’ discussion, of which we listed over a dozen items, thoughts, areas of interest and opportunities for Ops-WG. Further to the ‘suggestion box’ we discussed the purpose and outcome of Ops-WG and aligned on areas of discussion for the next regular meeting in two weeks.
Significant Wins for Ops-WG Meeting #1
- Discussed and listed over a dozen areas of improvement at BGIN
- Outlined simple ‘purpose/outcome’ for Ops-WG
- Identified (5) additional topics of discussion for next regular Ops-WG meeting
- Ops-WG HAS IT’s FIRST PROPOSAL! @nobocop proposed to map several key partners for BGIN and to present at next regular Ops-WG meeting.
Areas of Improvement for Ops-WG
- Lack of coordination to ensure all Ops-WG Chairs were present
- Lack of complete structure/agenda to follow
- Ran overtime by 5 minutes
### Mapping areas of improvement
- BN Bylaws & BGIN Structure - Takaya
- Process for establishing new working groups and name co-chairs
- Collection of legal documents
- Business model, including funding (sponsorship, etc.) - Takaya
- Marketing channels & scheduling & content & collateral (brand guidelines, etc.)
- Criteria for establishing a new BGIN block - definition of what a block meeting is
- Partner organizations - define, select, market → by country/region
- Governance of working group meetings - should all chairs be present? What defines a quorum
- Online sytems: some level of unification of communication, forum for core members (Google Docs for content creation) vs public community space (Discourse) (what defines a core member?), e.g.
- Experiment with Discourse and LLM on top → chatbot (depends on generated content on these layers)
- Constant review of feedback concerning Discourse & Website
- BGIN Block Meetings
- Geographically Defined Core Members > Association Matrix
- Local Chairs Nominations
- Block Meetings must be agnostic and inclusive (geographically neutral)
- Frequency (reference to the business model of BGIN)
- Stored Memory Alignment
- Out of the box ‘Block Meeting’ > Ops
### Purpose & Outcome of Ops-WG Joey Beverley
